Building fluency:
Our musicianship lessons will focus on foundational musical skills — pitch, rhythm, listening, notation, and sight-singing — and are open to students of any age. For younger students especially, these sessions create a joyful, grounded musical awareness that supports early vocal development at an appropriate rate. They also serve as a meaningful path for adult learners wanting to strengthen their musicianship outside of voice lessons.
Building technique and artistry:
Our voice lessons focus on developing vocal technique, expressive singing, and deepening your artistic identity. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been singing for years, our lessons are tailored to your goals and experience. Musicianship and theory will be woven in as is appropriate.
Building confidence:
I also offer one-off or short term coaching sessions for singers preparing for:
-All-State and regional auditions
-Conservatory/university auditions
-Pre-screens or live auditions
We’ll focus on presentation and finishing touches– I also offer guidance for personal statements and essay questions on applications, as well as broader artistic development (like social media and career planning).
I aim to create the structure to guide students and encourage them to bring their whole selves to the table. Meaningful growth happens when they find the courage to take risks within—to explore new sounds and new ways of being expressive. My role is to listen, respond honestly, and meet each student where they are. I aim to build a strong, age-appropriate foundation rooted in classical technique. With proper training and mindset, a classical foundation can prepare the voice to approach any style of singing with ease—and with the true identity of one’s own voice.
I teach as someone who remembers what it feels like to go unheard. My approach is grounded in respect for the whole person—not just the voice, but the heart and mind (the artistry) behind it. I believe in rigor without rigidity; in excellence without erasure. I teach because I believe the voice—in all its forms—is worth uncovering, recovering, and celebrating. Voice lessons can be deeply personal, and I work to ensure that each student feels supported, empowered, and challenged in equal measure throughout their learning journey. I aim to create a space where singers can develop both their technical skills and their sense of self.
As singers, we don’t get to put our instrument away when we’re done practicing. We use it at the grocery checkout, and to laugh with our closest friends. The instrument is our body. We must nourish and care for it—and we must recognize the bravery it takes to display (and offer up for critique) something so internal to our being.
